Introduction
Andrew Newcombe is an associate in NP’s Government Investigations & White-Collar Defense group. He represents entities and individuals in complex litigations, government investigations, and enforcement actions.
My focus
I began my legal career in a corporate practice, advising clients on new entity formations, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate, transactional, and employment matters. That experience continues to inform my approach to each client engagement, where understanding my clients’ business needs and objectives remains central to serving them effectively.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Today, I assist clients and legal teams in all phases of litigation and dispute resolution, from investigations and pre-trial matters, including discovery, to dispositive motions, mediations, hearings, and trials. My work includes in-depth legal research and drafting and reviewing legal memoranda, demand letters, contracts, and pleadings for state and federal courts.
Compliance and Regulatory Matters
I also assist clients in connection with deal due diligence and various compliance and regulatory matters. My corporate background helps me provide valuable insights into matters where the legal issues involved may stem from business and corporate governance issues.
Looking ahead
Today’s most difficult legal challenges rarely fall neatly or exclusively within the sphere of corporate or litigation matters. Internal corporate governance issues can easily lead to government investigations; employment decisions can inadvertently create regulatory exposure; and contractual disputes can quickly escalate into complex civil litigation. Clients must be especially vigilant in navigating emerging risks tied to fast-evolving regulatory frameworks, shifting societal expectations, and an increasingly uncertain domestic and international political environment. Businesses increasingly require tailored legal advice informed by both corporate/transactional and litigation/investigative expertise to develop and maintain practical compliance and risk management strategies, while remaining prepared to litigate aggressively if the need arises.

Pro bono services
Pro Bono and Military Service
I aim to commit a minimum of 60 hours per year to pro bono legal matters, with a focus on serving military veterans. Before law school, I served as an active-duty Infantry officer in the United States Army. I left active duty as a first lieutenant, was promoted to captain after transitioning to the Army Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), and I remain in the IRR today.
As a veteran, I believe I have a duty to support fellow veterans in my community, which is why I prioritize veteran-related pro bono cases, including representing veterans as an accredited attorney before the Department of Veterans Affairs.
