My work includes preparing Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor applications and filings, along with supporting documents and lost earnings calculations, and preparing retirement plan adoption agreements, plan documents, amendments, summary plan descriptions, adopting resolutions, and related plan forms and participant notices.
The IRS has extended the plan amendment deadline under the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, and various related regulatory guidance, and plans will need amending in order to maintain their tax-favored status. In addition, the onslaught of ERISA cases continues to emphasize the need for plan sponsors to review their plan language as well as their practices with the assistance of their plan advisors and service providers.
