Meredith LaMaster

Meredith is an associate in the Healthcare group. She represents for-profit and nonprofit entities, as well as investment and management firms, across the healthcare sphere, with their regulatory and transactional needs.

What do you focus on?

Prior to practicing law, I spent several years in sales and customer relations. Because of this, I take a multi-faceted approach to transactions. Providing clients with the best experience requires that we not only protect them from a legal standpoint, but also that we provide top-notch customer service while achieving their business objectives.

Healthcare Transactions

I support healthcare providers, private equity firms, and management companies as they navigate the complexities of joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and contractual arrangements. I also advise clients on regulatory issues associated with transactions, such as licensure, fraud and abuse risks, and the corporate practice of medicine and dentistry.

I counsel clients on complying with relevant Medicare and Medicaid laws, the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the federal Stark Law, and their state equivalents.

What do you see on the horizon?

As the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated, healthcare is constantly evolving. With the rise of telehealth and digital technologies, it will be essential to keep providers up to date on emerging federal and state regulations in the areas of fraud and abuse, reimbursement, and data privacy. Furthermore, as the digital arena continues to provide a platform for multi-state operations, I foresee an increase in the PC-MSO model.
