New York, NY. Nixon Peabody LLP has appointed partner Dr. Alper Tosun as leader of the firm’s Europe and Asia practice, a firmwide leadership position focused on strengthening and coordinating relationships, capabilities, and client service across Europe, Asia, North Africa, and the United States.
Dr. Tosun, a Complex Disputes partner based in the firm’s New York City office, will work across practices and offices to further develop Nixon Peabody’s presence throughout Europe, Asia, and North Africa for clients with significant cross-border interests. He will lead efforts to identify opportunities for continued international growth and strengthen the firm’s relationships with clients, institutions, and leading independent law firms across the region.
The Europe and Asia practice serves companies, investors, financial institutions, government and state-owned entities, family offices, and individuals on international transactions and investments; corporate and commercial matters; energy and infrastructure; aviation and defense; government and regulatory matters; international trade, export controls, and sanctions; investigations; project development and finance; international arbitration; and complex cross-border disputes.
The appointment reflects Dr. Tosun’s longstanding international practice and his work developing relationships across Europe and Asia. He has advised clients on legal and business matters involving more than 50 countries, and he regularly serves as a principal point of contact for international clients with interests in the United States and for US clients pursuing transactions, investments, and strategic matters abroad. His practice also extends to North Africa, particularly on matters connecting the region with European, Asian, and US markets.
Dr. Tosun has worked on significant matters involving energy and natural resources, infrastructure, aviation and defense, international transactions, government and regulatory matters, investigations, and international disputes. He also has substantial experience in international commercial and investment arbitration as well as the recognition and enforcement of international arbitral awards—an area where he has focused both his legal practice and academic work.
