San Francisco, CA. Nixon Peabody client Quanta Computer Incorporated, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of electronic hardware, has been named to analytics company Derwent’s “Top 100 Global Innovators” list. Quanta is one of only three companies in Taiwan to receive this recognition.

Derwent, a Clarivate Analytics company, is a Philadelphia-based global information solutions provider that focuses on intellectual property. The company’s methodology in identifying the top 100 most innovative organizations includes “examining patent portfolio strength and quality by organization, assessing not just volume of filed patents, but success in obtaining granted patents, globalization, breadth of filing of inventions, and external citations.”

Quanta was recognized because it has “significantly improved [its] standing in each of the measures of innovation examined—particularly in obtaining granted patent rights to their innovations,” according to Derwent’s report. This achievement elevates Quanta to the same tier as other global top technology companies that appear on the list.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working with Quanta since 2013,” said On Lu, an intellectual property partner based in Nixon Peabody’s San Francisco office. “Six years later—and after countless hours of patent mining, training, drafting, secondments, pushing, collaborating, licensing, and more patent mining—Quanta has filed close to 500 patents and joins the list of the top 100 innovators in the world. We couldn’t be more proud.”

“Quanta is proud to have been selected as one of the Derwent Top 100 Global Innovators,” said Mike Yang, SVP and GM of Quanta Computer Inc. “As this is the first time we are appearing on this list, we surely will continue to strengthen our intellectual property activities to protect our global business while respecting the intellectual property rights of our colleagues all around the world.”

“The honor reflects Quanta’s constant innovation and drive,” Lu said, “and we’re excited about their continued success.”
