Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP has selected San Francisco-based partner Anthony Barron to lead the AmLaw 100 law firm’s Litigation Department and join its Management Committee.

Nixon Peabody’s more than 320-member Litigation Department comprises Complex Commercial Disputes, Financial Restructuring & Bankruptcy, Intellectual Property, Labor & Employment, and Government Investigations & White Collar Defense practice groups.

Tony has more than 30 years of experience representing leaders in the construction and real estate development industry, having amassed a distinguished track record of trying cases to successful verdict and securing high-stakes victories in arbitration. During nearly 15 years with the firm, he served as deputy head of the Litigation Department and was instrumental in helping to expand Nixon Peabody’s presence on the West Coast while serving as office managing partner in San Francisco.

“We are continuing to learn, collaborate, and evolve to serve as strategic partners to our clients in this transition to a post-COVID landscape,” said Nixon Peabody CEO and Managing Partner Stephen Zubiago. “Tony’s legal skills, approach, and adoption of new technologies and approaches that have helped our clients achieve their business goals—both in and out of court—make him perfectly suited to meet this moment and lead this strong group.”

Taking a forward-looking view, Tony’s primary goals also include partnering with clients in innovative ways to help them to meet their business goals while fostering and attracting a diverse team of litigation leaders.

“Our firm’s Litigation Department brings industry leading knowledge, an innovative approach and an entrepreneurial spirit to each client interaction,” said Tony Barron. “In this new era, it will be more important than ever to integrate closely with client teams, promoting greater connectivity, and aligning key objectives. This may include helping clients source litigation funding, creating transformative alternative fee arrangements, leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver greater value, and partnering on pro bono and other efforts to make an impact on our communities.”

Earning his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, Tony received a B.A., cum laude, from Williams College. He has been recognized for many years by Chambers USA and Best Lawyers® in the field of Construction Law.

Tony assumes the Litigation leadership position from Scott O’Connell, a Chambers USA and Best Lawyers® recognized lawyer who has held many leadership roles at the firm over the past decade. Scott is a trial attorney and litigation strategist focused on complex commercial disputes involving high financial and reputation exposure. He has considerable experience leading class action and aggregate litigation.
