Los Angeles, CA. Adding to Nixon Peabody’s rapidly expanding West Coast team, the global law firm welcomes Joshua Pollack to the Intellectual Property practice as counsel based in the Los Angeles office.
With more than 25 years of experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation matters, Josh advises a range of businesses and industries, including financial institutions, hedge funds, manufacturing, real estate, entertainment and media, apparel, retail, and hospitality. He has considerable experience representing clients in intellectual property litigation that primarily includes copyright, trademark, and patent ownership and infringement matters. He has successfully represented corporate and individual clients on a wide variety of matters involving claims for breach of contract, fraud, negligence, strict liability, breach of warranty, unfair competition, business interference, and false advertising.
Josh’s arrival to Nixon Peabody follows intellectual property counsel Thomas O’Keefe who joined the firm’s Boston office in late October. Earlier this year, Nixon Peabody welcomed a team of intellectual property attorneys to its Los Angeles office that includes Josh’s prior colleagues: partners Erica J. Van Loon and Andrew Y. Choung and counsel S. Desmond Jui. Driven by the continued growth of its IP practice in targeted areas, associate Mark Zhai and resident attorneys Freddy Lopez, Valentina Polunina, and Jared Densen and patent agent Harry Lee also recently joined the firm’s IP practice in Los Angeles. The Chicago office welcomed patent specialist Timothy Hark over the summer.
“As we continue to track rapidly evolving client needs, we are excited to expand our dynamic team,” said Jeffrey Costellia, co-leader of Nixon Peabody’s Intellectual Property practice. “Josh’s deep experience beyond IP litigation—helping clients navigate a range of complex disputes—will be a valuable asset to our cross-disciplinary teams.”
In addition to his IP practice, Josh also has more than a decade of experience representing policyholders in disputes with insurance companies and litigating coverage matters in federal and state courts across the country. He has counseled clients with regard to designing pre-litigation insurance coverage strategies and conducted policy reviews and analyses.
“Josh’s work with clients across a broad spectrum of industries and his familiarity with several of our Los Angeles colleagues make him a welcome and well-suited addition to our team,” said Justin X. Thompson, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Los Angeles office.
Josh earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and B.A. from Yeshiva University. He is a member of the executive board and serves on the legal committee for Young Israel of Century City.
