Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that longtime partner Jeffrey Brenner will lead the global law firm’s newly established nationwide Construction & Real Estate Litigation practice.

While litigation in the construction and real estate space has long been a focus area and a defined team as part of Nixon Peabody’s Complex Disputes practice, formally establishing the Construction & Real Estate Litigation practice group reflects increased and distinct client demand, particularly with respect to challenges facing the construction and real estate development industries in the pandemic. The new practice group also reinforces the close collaboration between the firm’s litigators and real estate attorneys that enables comprehensive client service and support.

“The attorneys in our practice have a deep understanding of how the pandemic has affected the working relationship among owners, developers, design professionals, contractors, and even the municipalities where the properties are located,” said Jeff. “Helping our clients achieve their development objectives and make a positive impact for their businesses and their communities is a cornerstone of our firm. Launching this dedicated practice illustrates that priority loud and clear.”

With a practice that covers New England, Jeff is a trial lawyer who represents clients in complex business disputes in federal and state courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as well as in arbitrations, in mediations, and before regulatory agencies. He also serves as outside general counsel to several businesses that have a national presence in the construction, real estate development, and manufacturing industries.

The Construction & Real Estate Litigation practice has a geographic footprint in many major markets across the United States with a proven track record of litigating disputes to successful conclusion when necessary and resolving disputes in the transactional, pre-litigation, or early litigation stages when possible. Attorneys in the practice have particular strengths in handling disputes related to construction and design, zoning and land use, commercial leasing, property damage claims, and all aspects of real estate development and property workout.

“Jeff understands the nuances of the dynamic environment as it continues to evolve, helping our clients minimize risk, maximize development opportunities, successfully resolve disputes, and strategically plan for the future,” said Anthony Barron, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Litigation Department. “Jeff is a determined leader, and I look forward to assembling our nationwide team of construction and real estate litigation practitioners to even better meet client need.”

Jeff was recognized in the 2021 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as a leader in his field for commercial litigation. He earned his JD from American University Washington College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
