Dr. Alper Tosun is counsel in our Complex Commercial Disputes practice group. He represents the legal interests of clients from the United States and overseas. He is a leading practitioner in the field of international commercial arbitration proceedings. His dissertation was recently published by University of California, Berkeley, on the recognition and enforcement of international arbitral awards. He has regularly acted for international clients in arbitrations seated across the globe and has specific knowledge of disputes in the construction, energy, mining, and infrastructure industries.
I focus my practice on high-end litigation and investigations, including white-collar work and international arbitrations pertaining to commercial disputes throughout the United States and overseas. I have successfully represented clients in proceedings administered by many of the world’s leading arbitration bodies, including the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). My extensive business network in Turkey and the United States has trained me to tackle issues confronting clients from a global perspective.
By commemorating its 100th anniversary, Turkey aims to become the tenth largest economy in the globe and reinforce its already important place in the world economy. Our team is closely following Turkey’s progress towards its 2023 goals and the country’s legal needs on the path.
Before joining NP, I worked as a litigator at another international law firm and as a lecturer at University of California, Berkeley. In addition, I worked for an international legal solution provider, where I visited and consulted on business projects in over 42 countries, served as lead client contact on transactional matters involving international investment companies, drafted and negotiated a wide variety of derivatives and brokerage agreements, advised clients on worldwide enforceability of arbitral awards, and negotiated cross-border commercial transactions.
