Centreville Bank scores naming rights and benefits for Rhode Island FC’s new stadium

Nixon Peabody’s Sports Law team helps shape a naming rights deal that positions Centerville Bank at the heart of Rhode Island’s soccer future.

Centreville Bank has taken a historic step by securing exclusive, long-term naming rights for the newly constructed Centreville Bank Stadium, which is the official home of Rhode Island FC. This state-of-the-art, fully electric, soccer-specific venue seats over 10,500 fans and is on track to become a hub for sports, entertainment, and community events across New England. For Centreville Bank, this was a bold statement that honors the bank’s Rhode Island roots and illustrates its commitment to community engagement and regional growth.

Rhode Island roots and modern strategy drive collaboration

Centreville Bank sought a bold, visible way to reinforce its identity as a keystone to the local community. The opportunity to partner with Rhode Island FC, a homegrown professional soccer team that competes in the USL Championship league, offered a unique opportunity, so Centreville joined forces with attorneys from Nixon Peabody’s Providence office and its Los Angeles-based Sports & Stadiums team to navigate obtaining the naming rights and benefits for the new stadium.

Structuring the deal to transcend traditional sponsorship

Nixon Peabody guided Centerville Bank through negotiations, delivering an agreement designed for long-term value, visibility, and lasting impact that goes beyond traditional sponsorship.

The agreement encompasses branding and trademarking; sponsorship benefits; in-field and broadcast/radio coverage, print, player appearances, and promotions; and exclusivity provisions that ensure Centreville Bank remains synonymous with the stadium’s live sports experience. This strategic move reinforces the bank’s role as a catalyst for growth and progress in Rhode Island.

Centreville Bank’s stadium partnership creates lasting impact

By investing in this landmark project, Centreville Bank has raised its profile, deepened its community roots, and contributed to the largest private capital investment in Rhode Island in over a century. Centreville’s presence on Rhode Island FC jerseys and its new branch location near the stadium further expand its reach in the state.

The impact of this partnership is already evident, as the stadium is set to host not only professional soccer matches but also concerts, civic events, and regional gatherings, driving economic activity and tourism. Nixon Peabody is proud to be a part of this Ocean State venture that has already united fans, supported economic growth, and reinforced Centreville Bank’s position as a leader in both banking and community development.
