    Introduction

Dr. Nicole Kling is a patent agent applying her varied life sciences experience to provide patent prosecution and strategic intellectual property services to academic and industrial clients.

    Practice Areas

    Intellectual PropertyLife Sciences

    My focus

Today, I work with clients in several areas to help them leverage and protect their intellectual property.

    Patent Prosecution

I assist my clients with patent drafting and prosecution across a wide variety of technologies, including:

    • Biotechnology
    • Biomedical devices
    • Diagnostics
    • Personalized medicine
    • Microbiome applications
    • Applications of natural products (e.g., proteins derived from microbes and plants)
    • Therapeutics
    • Tissue engineering
    • Plant biology
    • Cancer biology
    • Antibiotics
    • Stem cell related technologies

I work with pharmaceutical companies, startups, independent inventors, research institutions and universities to obtain and develop patent rights to a wide variety of life sciences discoveries and advances.

I have a particular interest in agricultural-related applications. I participated in agricultural activities and business while growing up and my undergraduate and graduate research focused on plant pathology. As a patent agent, I represent agriculturally-focused companies with activities ranging from natural products for the dietary supplement market, to crop seed production, to avian breeding and hatching, to agricultural product processing and transport.

    Intellectual Property Management

From patentability analyses, to licensing, to freedom to operate assessments, I help our clients determine how to make the most effective use of intellectual property rights in their business.

    Looking ahead

I have been following the rapidly evolving IP landscape and am continuing to help adapt our services to protect our clients’ rights now and in the future.
