Introduction
Jessica Yarnes is a member of the Cross-Border Risks team. Her practice focuses on compliance, investigations, and litigation.
My focus
I help clients navigate complex government compliance and criminal defense matters. I work closely with our Cross-Border Risks team, which represents businesses and high-net-worth individuals facing potential sanctions, international arrest warrants, criminal indictments, and other critical challenges.
I utilize my previous experience at the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and as a judicial law clerk to assist clients with criminal, civil, and regulatory investigations involving various enforcement agencies.
My experience at DHS included:
- Advising on complex trade and economic security matters, including implementation of international trade and tariff executive actions, customs authorities, supply chain security, and the Jones Act
- Providing strategic legal guidance in support of DHS’s forced labor enforcement mission, including implementation and enforcement of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and development of the UFLPA Entity List
- Advising on the exercise of federal law enforcement authorities, including Fourth Amendment implications of emerging technologies, the use of emergency response authorities, and the exercise of counter-unmanned aircraft systems authorities
I began my legal career as a Law Clerk for The Honorable Robert A. Salerno, Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
