Providence, RI. Nixon Peabody partner Armando Batastini has been named a Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly “Leader in the Law,” honoring a select group of attorneys as part of the publication’s 2021 Excellence in the Law awards.
Armando is a Providence-based partner in Nixon Peabody’s Complex Commercial Disputes practice. In addition to his work as a commercial and real estate litigator, he leads the firm’s Distressed Commercial Debt Litigation team. Armando represents businesses and owners in a wide variety of contractual, shareholder, and commercial realty disputes.
He also devotes a large portion of his practice to representing holders of commercial debt in all aspects of workouts, foreclosures, receiverships, and guaranty enforcement actions. Armando is currently representing clients in matters involving multimillion-dollar loans in connection with various facilities, malls, and hotels, and his work includes recent success at trial.
Additionally, Armando represents closely held businesses and their owners in ownership, fiduciary, and oppression claims in a variety of industries, and he also practices in the area of election law. Each cycle, Armando advises and represents candidates before the Rhode Island Board of Elections, the Rhode Island Supreme Court, the Federal Court for the District of Rhode Island, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals with respect to election challenges and other election law issues, including ballot access disputes.
Armando earned his J.D. from Roger Williams University, magna cum laude, and his B.S. from the United States Naval Academy.
