Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP is proud to announce that the Boston Business Journal has named Steven Hanton, a partner in the firm’s Global Finance practice, to the publication’s 2026 “40 Under 40” list.
Based in the firm’s Boston office, Steve is a member of the firm’s Corporate Trust and Banking & Finance practice groups. He represents banks and other financial institutions that provide corporate trust, fiduciary, and agency services in structured finance and capital markets transactions. Steve advises corporate trust clients on all types of financial products, from debt financings and rated note feeders to CLOs and other structured finance transactions, at all stages of their life cycles: origination, amendment, refinancing, satisfaction, and discharge and dispute resolution.
Steve is an active member of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association and served on the board of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association from 2022 to 2025. In 2023, he was named one of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s “Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40.” Steve is also the cofounder and chief financial officer of FROLIC (formerly Men of Melanin Magic), a Boston-based organization seeking to foster joy among queer and trans people of color and create welcoming spaces for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
The Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list honors the best young professionals in Greater Boston for their professional and personal achievements as well as their contributions to the local business community.
Steve and his fellow honorees will be recognized at an awards celebration on May 20, 2026, at Big Night Live.
