Nixon Peabody’s Erica F. Buckley elected to New York State Bar Association House of Delegates

New York, NY. Nixon Peabody LLP is proud to announce that Real Estate partner Erica F. Buckley has been appointed to the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) House of Delegates, the association’s decision- and policy-making body.

Erica is a member of Nixon Peabody’s Affordable Housing & Real Estate practice, and she leads the law firm’s Cooperatives & Condominiums and State Attorneys General practice teams. Prior to joining Nixon Peabody, she served as chief of the Real Estate Finance Bureau at the New York Attorney General’s Office. At NYSBA, Erica also co-chairs the Condominiums & Cooperatives Committee of the Real Property Section.

Erica focuses her practice on the Martin Act—New York’s blue-sky law, which governs real estate securities, including cooperative interests in realty (cooperatives, condominiums, homeowner associations, and senior communities) and syndications (investments in real estate). She represents for-profit and nonprofit developers, lenders, and government agencies on an array of issues involving luxury, middle-market, and affordable for-sale housing.

As the former chief of the Real Estate Finance Bureau, she advises clients on how to meet regulatory requirements effectively while minimizing risks relating to their properties, and also represents clients on white-collar and government investigations before government agencies and the New York Attorney General. Erica’s portfolio of transactional services includes drafting offering plans, no-action letters, and exemption applications, and serving as special counsel to cooperative and condominium boards undertaking major corporate changes. Erica is also a registered lobbyist and provides guidance on an array of policy issues involving real estate.

Erica is a regular contributor to the New York Law Journal in her “Ask the Former Regulator” column. She is also a frequent public speaker and often lectures on topics involving real estate securities.
