Introduction
George Dandalides helps clients strategically develop and manage intellectual property portfolios with an eye toward monetization, providing freedom-to-operate, patentability, and other opinions, and supporting patent portfolio enforcement and litigation strategy.
My focus
I help clients achieve their business objectives by building and growing patent portfolios aligned with their goals. My work includes conducting freedom-to-operate (FTO) and patentability analyses and providing opinion work to guide business decisions. On the enforcement and litigation side, I analyze opposing parties’ patent positions, file continuation applications to expand coverage, and add new patents to existing lawsuits. I also prepare and prosecute patent applications as part of the broader portfolio strategy.
My physics and computer programming background informs my work across electronics, augmented and virtual reality, semiconductors, integrated circuits, e-commerce, data systems and algorithms, autonomous vehicles, irrigation systems, radiation detection systems, optics, thermodynamics, computer hardware and software, computer networking, cellular communications, medical devices, decorator systems, dental implants and orthodontic devices, gaming technologies, and haptic devices.
Representative experience
- Represent a private university in California in patent prosecution, portfolio management, counseling, technology transfer, and related intellectual property matters
- Represent a collegiate athletics organization in intellectual property counseling matters, including advising on agreements, technology licensing, and patent prosecution
- Represent a medical technology company on intellectual property matters related to orthopedic surgical reconstruction technologies, including implant technology and augmented-reality surgical guidance systems.
- Provide patent prosecution and intellectual property counsel for a digital health company developing connected oral-care technology designed to improve brushing habits for children and adults.
Looking ahead
I’m constantly watching the development of patentable subject matter under 35 USC § 101. I consider new developments in case law, as well as guidance provided by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), to guide not only prosecution strategy but also my claim drafting strategy to anticipate any future hurdles that may occur during patent prosecution.
