Introduction
My focus
Patent Litigation
As a seasoned trial lawyer, I have served as lead counsel in dozens of patent infringement, trademark infringement, and trade secret cases throughout the United States. I have successfully tried cases involving a broad range of technologies, including electronics, computer systems, medical devices, and consumer products. I am a zealous advocate for my clients. My success in the courtroom has allowed me to negotiate many settlements without going to trial. My representation includes a two-week trial in the Western District of Pennsylvania for a large university, resulting in a jury verdict of willful patent infringement and an eight-figure damage award for the client. As lead counsel for a patent owner, I also successfully obtained a preliminary injunction in the Southern District of New York, which enjoined the accused infringer from selling the accused product.
Additionally, I have significant experience representing clients in USPTO trials and appeals, including inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations. I successfully argued an appeal of four ex parte reexaminations on behalf of a patent owner before the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Trademark
I lead trademark and trade dress litigation disputes, with particular depth in sports and consumer products. I also manage trademark portfolios and enforcement protection on Amazon. I have participated in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), and I am registered to practice before the USPTO.
Trade Secret
I have represented tech companies in numerous matters that involve a wide range of trade secret issues, from advising on protection programs to litigating alleged thefts. I have also counseled clients on NDAs and other restrictive covenants.

Looking ahead
Ex parte reexaminations continue to play a prominent role in patent challenges. Understanding the legal constructs of these proceedings, keeping up to date with new rule changes from the USPTO, and developing effective strategies are key. Additionally, the USPTO has issued several significant updates to its methods for evaluating artificial intelligence and software patent applications for patent eligibility purposes. Expect patent eligibility issues to play an important role at the USPTO and in federal courts over the next few years.
