Introduction
Kelly Sprague advises clients on regulatory compliance, transactional matters, and environmental and business litigation, delivering strategic, practical guidance tailored to their goals. She partners with clients to address emerging challenges and evolving environmental and sustainability law requirements crafting policy, regulatory, and transactional solutions.
My focus
My practice focuses on supporting business and industry clients in meeting evolving compliance demands and addressing issues that arise in complex supply chains and consumer-facing operations.
I bring a cross functional background in legal and technical experience to bear on multifaceted environmental matters helping clients adopt tailored approaches that reflect their specific needs, realities, and risks. My work has spanned the industries of financial services, waste operations, consumer product companies, logistics providers, and other entities throughout the supply chain. Additional areas of focus include environmental due diligence for transactions involving the built environment, complex commercial disputes, and oversight of contaminated property cleanups.
Representative experience
- Developed standard operating procedure for client’s handling of unsold consumer products through reverse logistics and reverse distribution
- Advised multi-jurisdictional clients on product compliance, extended producer responsibility (EPR), and climate-related disclosure obligations (e.g., battery, packaging and eco-labeling regulations, and greenhouse gas and climate-related financial risk reporting)
- Successfully advised clients on a variety of environmental agency enforcement and permitting issues
- Coordinated and led associate team through discovery in a complex commercial litigation involving business torts and antitrust claims between waste operators
Looking ahead
As environmental and sustainability laws normalize and standardize, businesses will continue to face evolving compliance demands necessitating practical, innovative, and intentional long-term solutions. Taking advantage of the opportunities and avoiding the risks relevant to specific business and industry needs will be key to creating sustaining value.
