Washington. DC. Nixon Peabody LLP continues to expand its Washington, DC, presence with the addition of Jen Squillario and Ian Taylor, who have joined the global law firm as Labor & Employment partners.

Ian and Jen have significant experience representing public and private companies, executives, board members, trustees, and other fiduciaries in ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) litigation, as well as matters connected with employee benefits, executive compensation, class actions, stock option litigation, severance plan disputes, non-compete agreements, and other commercial disputes.

“I’ve had the good fortune to work closely with Ian and Jen over the last five years in litigation we’ve had in common. They are smart, tough, outstanding ERISA litigators and exceedingly fine people,” said Charles Dyke, a Nixon Peabody Labor & Employment partner and leader of the firm’s ERISA Litigation practice. “I am thrilled to welcome them to the firm and incredibly excited that we will be practicing together and continue to build out the firm’s ERISA Litigation practice.”

As a seasoned ERISA litigator, Ian has served as first and second chair in matters involving class actions, non-compete agreements, and executive compensation arrangements. Ian’s wide-ranging practice focuses on defending plans, fiduciaries, and companies against claims of breaching fiduciary duty, vesting and funding violations, withdrawal liability, and welfare and pension benefits disputes. He has experience counseling organizations on plan interpretation, amendment, and benefit claims administration.

Jen focuses her practice on representing companies in complex litigation involving financial products relating to ERISA, insurance contracts and products, and securities. She has experience litigating on behalf of clients across a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical, motor vehicle, investment banking, insurance, global financial services, and hospitality.

In addition to her ERISA practice, Jen has significant experience counseling clients on corporate investigations and compliance matters and electronic discovery, including advising on records retention, litigation holds, and the prevention and use of electronic information.

“We continue to broaden our litigation team in Washington, targeting attorneys who fill an area of need across many clients and who are a great fit for our firm’s culture,” said Colette Dafoe, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Washington, DC, office. “Ian and Jen are prime examples of this, making a positive impact on their clients as well as in their community, where they both have deep roots.”

Ian earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and a B.A. from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He serves on the executive committee of the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger to Benefit the Maryland Food Bank and the Capital Area Food Bank.

Jen earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and a B.A. from Columbia University. She currently serves on the board of St. Vincent de Paul Baltimore and previously served on the board of the Women’s Law Center of Maryland and the Audubon Society of Maryland and Washington, DC.
